“That day we mourned for her, a bright soul blown away by the dry winds from rugged bestial lips of those who shall but be damned. Few did we know - for all stood aghast in surprise - naught stood back in the coffin! For it had been ransacked.. by sacrilegious filth who do not even concede the body of the dead a rest.” -A baffled gravedigger of old filling a report on tomb raiders.

Despite their monstrous nature and blackened souls it’s rare for one to ever notice the presence of these treacherous beasts who walk among them. Shroud in shadows under moonless night, their ‘masks’ often flawless and unmarred and of noble complexion: most to behold their horrendous true face learn about them all too late.
Normally they appear as a healthy individual of their respective races, in fact almost always as spectacular specimens, bar for those unfortunate to be misshapen at birth, with unwarranted and unpleasing mutations (normal bodily ones, nothing that can grant them an edge at anything) due to their mixed descendancy. They may, even in this state, partially reveal their true self, for either the purpose of intimidation or when the scent of blood fills the air. (For further clarification on this, please consult the abilities section of this wiki page).
When malnourished (lacking substantially on either food or blood, or both) they appear aged, haggard and sickened as if struck by a sore disease or curse: their canines prod upwards becoming less subtle and their nails grow relentlessly, requiring to be trimmed lest they become too large to hide (yet not to full length).
When Nachzehrer are in their fully depleted state or are starving (when all blood has grown stale or if they haven't eaten for too long) concealing their nature becomes impossible, as their form turns decayed and loathingly grotesque, of great aversion to any’s eyes but that of the mad: Their body appears rotten, putrid flesh wrapped by scar tissue, Their eyes, hollow and sunken deep into their cranium, Pronounced bones sticking harshly against the skin, Malformed, yellow, teeth protruding against and even tearing the cheeks in the worst cases, Lacerations and gashes on the skin provoking occasional bleeding, Horrendous acne, pus bubbles and stains across the body, Crooked bat ears and nose, Unhinged wide mouths, Hunchbacked, with bowed legs and extended, longer, arms, Their fangs and claws cannot be hidden and shall regrow swiftly if cut or trimmed. The only way to revert from this form is to feed upon a sentient being, in a violent process that results in their death.
Nachzehrers often don upon garbs that aid them in more seamlessly blending into the society they come to join (be that of the Voudr or any human peoples they surround themselves with); many times opting to always retain their might, even under sunlight, by covering their bodies to the best capacity with cloaks, robes, hoods, helmets, etc. At night they dress dark vestments for the benefit of stealth, making victims without leaving behind traces.
Nachzehrers many times pride themselves in material goods of beauty, to further adorn and embellish themselves or denote and exude an aura of power and nobility. Make-up is common to help conceal their lesser conditions when not properly fed, albeit no amount of it shall veil them when famished.
These abilities are universal, and present with a Nachzehrer at all stages of hunger:
Apex Predator: Nachzehrer have senses that well surpass those of their peers. From their Voudr ancestors they have a strong bond with blood, because of this Nachzehrer have the inhuman ability to smell blood and also hear it coursing through the body of their targets. A Nachzehrer can accurately pinpoint the location of any living creature within twenty blocks of them. If a living creature is wounded this radius is extended to fifty blocks. None can hide from the Apex Predator.
Unholy Constitution: Nachzehrer will never regrow limbs or heal from mortal wounds. They do however have a very slight healing factor, most wounds that would incapacitate a person from broken arms to deep, non-fatal lacerations heal in a mere few hours when on the body of a Nachzehrer. In addition to this, Nachzehrer do not age past adulthood or middle-age, and do not suffer from non-magical diseases (this is subject to ET discretion).
Dormant Ancient Blood: Nachzehrer have within them a connection, whether they know it or not, to one of the five Voudr Bloodlines.

The Beast Within
Nachzehrer must feed on blood each day to keep their normal state. If they go three days without feeding they will become malnourished, and if they go a week without feeding they will start to starve. Feeding on the blood of animals, or similar non-sentient creatures will only keep a Nachzehrer in the malnourished state. The only way to escape the starved state is to feed on a sentient being, a violent and bloody process that almost always results in the victim's death should it be allowed to happen. When normally feeding, however, Nachzehrer may choose to spare the life of their victim. Even though they are not as drawn to blood as their Voudr parents, Nachzehrer are still but a day without feeding away from becoming nothing more than a mindless monster, and its scent is incredibly enticing to them.
Fully-Fed Nachzehrer (Days 0 -> 3 without blood)
Nachzehrer normally appear as a healthy individual of their respective race, albeit a paler one. Despite this, hints at their true nature are still very present. Their additional abilities are as follows:
Inhuman Reflexes: Nachzehrer can react much faster than almost any creature on the face of Gaia thanks to their lithe, twitchy bodies. A Nachzehrer, if they are aware of the shot, can snatch an arrow out of the air with a considerable amount of concentration; The swing of a Warhammer will almost never hit a Nachzehrer unless caught unaware, however, good luck catching these creatures unaware. Nachzehrer receive a static plus five bonus to dodge ranged attacks.
Vile Strength: Nachzehrer are a deceptive sort, they are always at peak physical condition without any amount of training. A Nachzehrer can lift at what would be considered peak for their base race without looking like a muscle-bound monster. They must be in their normal state for this ability to take effect. Due to having the absolute peak strength potential of their base race, combined with their enhanced speed and twitching musculature (akin to that of a serpent). For such reasons, the force behind their attacks is equivalent to that of an average Rehk-Ur's. This doesn't translate to feats such as lifting heavy objects among others that purely rely on strength, such as something like wrestling.
Monstrous Nature: Even at this stage, Nachzehrer's true selves may be partially revealed. When they wish, or the overwhelming scent of blood fills the air, their nails become gnarled and clawlike, shooting out to reach a maximum length of a quarter foot, and possessing a strength similar to that of a wolf's claws. Their eyes become bloodshot, pupiless or completely jet-black, while their canines grow out, becoming akin to those seen in a feline.
Malnourished Nachzehrer (Days 4 -> 7 without blood)
The cracks are beginning to show. When a Nachzehrer has not fed for 3 days, they begin to weaken and revert towards the beast that lurks within them. Their eyes are constantly bloodshot, and they appear sickly and haggard as if suffering from a terrible cold or starving. Meanwhile, their canines grow more prominent and long, resembling those found in a cat. Their nails now grow swiftly on their own, reaching a maximum length of a half-foot unless constantly trimmed. They possess no additional abilities besides the universal Nachzehrer ones.
Starved Nachzehrer (Days 8 -> Infinity without blood)
Once a Nachzehrer has gone half an age without blood, they fully succumb to the beast inside them. Their form turns decayed and loathingly grotesque, of great aversion to any’s eyes but that of the mad: Their body appears rotten, putrid flesh wrapped by scar tissue, Their eyes, hollow and sunken deep into their cranium, jet-black and pupilless, Pronounced bones sticking harshly against the skin, Malformed, yellow, teeth protruding against and even tearing the cheeks in the worst cases, Lacerations and gashes on the skin provoking occasional bleeding, Horrendous acne, pus bubbles and stains across the body, Crooked bat ears and nose, Unhinged wide mouths, Hunchbacked, with bowed legs and extended, longer, arms, their fangs and claws cannot be hidden and shall regrow swiftly if cut or trimmed. Their additional abilities are as follows:
Monstrous Form: Depending on their size, their fangs may reach up to a quarter-foot in length, and their claws may grow to be up to a foot in length. Additionally, they may no longer adequately communicate with those around them, their once-eloquent words becoming nothing more than garbled, muttering nonsense. Upon reverting to this state, the Nazchezar finds itself unable to take off the clothes it was wearing prior to its reversion, said clothes staying with the Nazchezar as it lives life like a beast, becoming tattered, ripped, and dirty. In this form, the Nazchezar also finds it impossible to use the most basic of things, such as most tools, weapons, and even doors. The one upside of this form is that it brings with it an increase in strength, making the Nazchezar now possess a strength equivalent to 1.5x that of a human.
The hunger: Nachzehrer can no longer easily resist the desire to feed. Whenever they spend 3 emotes within 20 blocks of a living being, they must roll a d20. If they roll anything lower than a 15, they will succumb to their hunger, and be forced to pursue that creature until it either gets away, they die, or they feed upon it. Due to how hungry the Nachzehrer is, this feeding will not stop until the being is dead. A Nazchezar will only revert back from this form if the being they dine on is sentient. Animals will do nothing to sate the Nazchezar's lust. If the victim is sentient, once they are slain and the Nazchezar has eaten their fill they will immediately return to their fed form. This type of feeding does not desecrate the body of its victim, meaning they may be brought to a resurrection altar.

- You may not drink your own blood.
- Nachzehrer are susceptible to fire, silver, and platinum as their kin are, and all of these will counter the regeneration of a Nachzehrer.
- They can not dodge bullets, their bonus to dodge ranged attacks does not apply to firearms.
- Nachzehrer can only use their inhuman reflexes if they are wearing no or light armor.
- Nachzehrer cannot wield most conventional weaponry when their nails become larger in size.
- Nachzehrer may not be ressurected at altars, or via res app.
- Nachzehrer in the starved form may not wear armor of any kind.
Nachzehrer lack a culture of their own, therefore being influenced by that of the society they live in (be it a human one or that of the voudr) or by what they learn about them. Their tarnished and dim souls, sided with their lack of feeling of belonging and their timeless existences making it much harder to connect with human ones properly.
Now, a Nachzehrer’s name depends on with whom such damned offspring came from and their culture, if the Voudr parent is to allow the human to grant them such.
If not, Voudr naming conventions are followed, those normally being posh, regal and elaborate names imbued with meticulous meaning to their people (such as honoring an ancient voudr, by giving the cursed child a name similar to those they hold in such high esteem; or to their own, out of pride for themselves and creating a closer sense of family).
In cases where the voudr parent may come to neglect, despise or loathe the hybrid for their nature, if they are not slain and consumed, they receive derogatory names.
Quite simply, Nachzehrer are not machination of Covruduth or any other Dark Deity in on itself, nor the result of mutagenics stemming from alchemy, elaborate dooms woven in fate or curses plagued upon victims through sorcerous rites; instead they come from the union of a Voudr and a mortal, a human.
The reasons for an encounter between these two are plentiful, yet in most of the cases ends on a grisly note for either side. To reckon a race which in most cases only sees the other as prey, famed for atrocities that fill the folk’s tales with dread and fuels their nightmares, can have mirrored at them true feelings of passion from and towards a mere human.. is a nigh inscrutable thought better suited for a manner of fairy tale or theater play.
Indeed, some of these bounds can be cemented through less romantic ways, or by accident. In both cases though, the pregnancy and labor at birth may prove too strenuous for a human without assistance and support of a voudr, as the fetus may drain away much of the mother’s blood or instinctively harm and possibly even kill her (be it during birth, when being cradled, nursed or else). That is.. if the mother doesn't decide to kill the child first be it when it’s born or when it remains locked in the womb..
A human attempting to rear up a Nachzehrer proves too difficult too, as the child undergoes wild tantrums; bouts of hysteria and ferity; may become aggressive and unruly (mood-wise or regarding their powers); become addicted with the mother’s blood if she can not find another source; etc. Meanwhile a voudr mother lacks the nutrients such a child needs to be provided with, due to their part living nature.
A pairing of Nachzehrer may give birth to another one, the same way a Voudr mating with a Nachzehrer (as long as the mother is one of the latter) would have the same results, a Nachzehrer. A human and a nachzehrer would give birth to another of this creature’s kind (regardless of who’s the mother). This is due to voudr not being capable of nurturing a Nachzehrer with ordinary nutrients (as they’d only offer blood).
Therefore the conditions for such oddities to come to be are most unusual, with extremely few cases ever coming to fruition - there are simply too many factors going against the Nachzehrers. Though, albeit all their reluctance to mate with mortals (rather than devour them on the spot or simply turn them) it’s rumored the Council of Entheric demonstrates great interest for the subrace - due to its favorable traits - for a number of reasons only known to them. This commonly sparks hostility among their Voudr peers, out of damaged pride and jealousy towards the rare Nachzehrer. It’s also worth pointing out any humans taken to their hideout shortly freeze to death - that is, if they aren't eaten earlier.
Nachzehrer mainly turn to deities that reflect their nature and would prove pleased by their worship and services; this may lead them down a dangerous path: possibly being routed by malignant demons in case they delve too far into occultism, in hopes of earning divine support.
They may falsely worship deities of the society they live in; though, if they faithfully do so, most of those deities ought to spit at them. The clear exception to this norm being in case they stick along with the Voudr, in which case they may easily adhere to and partake in their cults.
As aforementioned, conceiving and raising a Nachzehrer is an immense and lethal burden for a human mother (as a female voudr may not birth them) without the aid of a voudr themselves, to the point it’s on the verge of the unfeasible. The voudr father may see them as a mistake and abandon them, or never meant to have them at all, sometimes even murdering the ‘thing’ on the spot.
The child would in most cases emerge consternation and disgust in the mortal side of the family, if not outright be somehow shunned or slain by them, left to grow and wander alone (which could lead to a very ravenous and feral individual if not located and taken by a voudr). Even then they are prone to suffer great prejudice among the voudr due to being ‘half-castes’ and to some be considered stains on their bloodlines, leading them to tread on a thin line unless supported by a higher voudr or readily protected by their father. Nonetheless they must truly earn their place even then.
Due to the anonymity and great scarcity of the subrace, sided with the great secrecy of the Voudr, their history remains unknown (in case any has been truly made by or through them).
It’s assumed the Nachzehrer’s history is interwoven with that of the Voudr and more about them can be encountered through research over the Anoman landscape or via interrogation of the progenitors of this species (if not with one of themselves, in case any comes to be discovered).
